If it is labeled as an alcohol disinfectant, one might think that it doesn't matter which manufacturer's product is used. However, in reality, alcohol disinfectants must be used at the correct concentration to be effective. Therefore, I would like to discuss the appropriate concentration of alcohol disinfectants. First, alcohol products include pharmaceuticals, quasi-drugs, cosmetics, and miscellaneous goods. These do not have regulations regarding ethanol concentration, and there is no obligation to display the concentration. As a result, some commercially available alcohol products that claim to disinfect or sterilize may not have concentration labels. Some of these may contain ethanol concentrations of less than 30%. Therefore, it is recommended to choose products labeled as "pharmaceuticals" or "quasi-drugs" for hand disinfection. Additionally, select products that specify the ethanol concentration and use those with an alcohol concentration of 70% to 80%. However, caution is necessary because concentrations of 90% or higher can be too strong, killing the normal bacteria on the skin and causing skin irritation.
